I would like to think that by understanding the brain we are going to be able help people. At the moment the work we do to understand the brains role in breathlessness could actually lead to personalised treatments where depending on the persons psychology and brain responses one person might go for exercise classes, while another might go for talking therapy. This can save the NHS millions of pounds by making sure people get the right treatment. Contributing to that progress is definitely what I strive for!
